ABSTRACT:
Standardization of social and medical services offered to terminally ill patients – both at home care services for the ill patient and those offered by institutions with accommodation capacity – are the prerequisites of consistent policies in the field.
Their construction of social and medical services must be based on a set of values: human dignity, right to life, right to health care, etc.
Standards need to translate values into a set of rules of good practice, mandatory for professionals, operationalized in quality standards measurable and assessable and which are prerequisites for introducing practices of supervision that can generate constructive effects at the level of public policies on health.
The introduction of socio-medical services supervision is a prerequisite to optimize their functional by reference to a set of ethical and axiomatic criteria.
